A start page provides your learners with a motivating entry point and initial orientation for your course. In this article, you will learn how to design the start page to suit the requirements of your target group.

Enable start page

The start page is configured in the settings in the Content Editor. Here you can specify whether the start page should be displayed.

  1. Select the top level (the course) in the Sitemap tab.
  2. Activate or deactivate the start page in the settings on the right-hand side via Course > Settings > Show start page.

Configuring start page

The course title and, if available, the subtitle of the course are automatically displayed on the start page. In addition, one or more backgrounds can be stored in the Course > Settings > Background section:

  • Background image
  • Background video
  • Background color

Once you have added background images, you can add a background animation for them.

Variants of the start page

There are two options available for displaying the start page, which you can select in the settings on the right-hand side under Variant. The Panorama variant is activated by default.

Panorama variant

This variant displays the background and course title in separate areas, ensuring that the title is always clearly legible. When an image and color are set for the background, the text area on the start page is highlighted with this color.

A dynamic zoom is automatically applied to the background if a background image is set. This setting can be changed in the Background Animation section.

Center Stage variant

In this variant, the title and subtitle are centered on the start page. Additionally, a text background can be added for the course title and subtitle.
